The film grossed $340 million domestically and $869 million globally, marking a solid success for the franchise. This achievement made the production of sequels inevitable. ## Sequel's Script David Koepp, the writer of Jurassic World Rebirth, penned the screenplay for the sequel. The script will bring back Johansson, Bailey, and Ali. However, the exact plot details remain unknown. It is confirmed that Edwards will not be directing. ## Search for a New Director With Edwards' departure, speculation has arisen about who will direct the sequel. Names like Olivia Wilde, Edgar Wright, Greta Gerwig, and Phil Lord & Chris Miller have been floated. While the likelihood of any of them being chosen is low, the possibilities are exciting. ## Edwards' Contribution to the Franchise Gareth Edwards delivered a solid contribution to the franchise with the last film, and his continuation would have ensured tonal and visual consistency. However, as Ian Malcolm famously said, 'Life finds a way.' The new director is expected to bring fresh energy to the series. ## The Future of the Franchise The sequel to Jurassic World Rebirth is poised to be a significant step in maintaining the franchise's popularity.
