1A Podcast Studio in Jay Shetty's Home

Life coach and author Jay Shetty, who has 65 million followers worldwide, designed a custom podcast studio in his home for his Netflix show 'On Purpose.' The studio was designed to feel like a natural extension of his home. Shetty drew inspiration from boutique hotels and libraries, aiming to create a warm atmosphere where guests could feel safe opening up.

2The Design Process and Challenges

Los Angeles-based designer Mike Moser was hired in March to design Shetty's podcast studio. Construction began at the end of April and was completed in three weeks. Moser noted that his team worked around the clock. The 800-square-foot studio was meticulously designed to reflect Shetty's personal aesthetic while ensuring guest comfort.

3Standout Design Details

The studio features two vintage Danish armchairs upholstered in mohair velvet by Designs of the Time. A round glass table by Courtney Applebaum with three jagged legs and a deep wine-colored Nordic Knots rug contrast with the blue ceiling. Artworks by Liam Stevens and J. Grant add depth, while patinated copper details and green tones create a natural balance.

4An Atmosphere Designed for Guests

Shetty described the first time guests used the studio as a special moment. He emphasized how the space fosters intimate and meaningful conversations. Moser highlighted that every design element was carefully chosen to complement the guests' appearance and comfort. The red carpet, in particular, perfectly reflects Shetty's 'swaggy' style.

5The Fusion of Art and Design

The studio includes striking art pieces like Rosie Clements' 'Calyx 2026,' a photograph printed on bubble wrap using a UV printer. Moser noted Shetty's desire to incorporate artists with diverse perspectives. Vintage Fortuny and Just Andersen lamps add unique character to the space.

6The Importance of Colors and Materials

Moser used green tones to balance the blue and red in the studio, creating a natural and warm atmosphere. Materials like patinated copper and bleached walnut panels added depth and character. Maria Yelletisch's 'Repetition Sobre Verde' artwork complements the color palette.

7The Podcast's Success and Impact

Launched in 2019, 'On Purpose' has hosted celebrities like Michelle Obama, Lewis Hamilton, and Selena Gomez. The podcast explores the intersection of wellness, personal growth, and contemporary culture. It's considered one of the world's most popular mental health podcasts. Its first Netflix season featured guests like Karl-Anthony Towns, Jake Shane, and Camila Mendes.

8How Design Enhances Conversations

Shetty emphasized how the studio's design directly impacts the quality of conversations. The space helps guests feel comfortable and engage in deep discussions. Moser added that every detail reflects Shetty's style while providing a flattering backdrop for guests. The studio stands out as a visually and functionally successful project.
