1Project Overview and Location

The Concrete House project, located in the northwestern region of Madrid, Spain, was completed in 2025. Designed by the collaborative team of Vierna9 and CIRAL Arquitectos, the residence spans a total area of 897 square meters. The design focuses on integrating specific site conditions with a clearly defined residential program.

2Materiality as Architectural Identity

Concrete serves as the fundamental element defining the architectural identity of this residence. The architects utilized this material not only for its structural integrity but also as a primary aesthetic feature. By prioritizing concrete, the design team established a distinct visual language that distinguishes the building within its suburban Madrid context.

3Collaborative Design and Management

The project was led by architects Tomás Carranza Macías, Miguel Ángel Leonsegui Linares, Francisco Javier Montero Roncero, Miguel Ciria Hernández, and Beatriz Álvarez Gómez. Project management was handled by Francisco Daniel Melchor Gallego, ensuring that the complex construction process remained aligned with the original design vision developed by the two architectural firms.

4Specialized Engineering and Consulting

Technical execution required a multidisciplinary approach involving various consultants. José Conesa Adelantado provided structural engineering, while Danfar managed electrical systems. Environmental sustainability was addressed by Girod Geotermia, and Esak Instalaciones handled additional technical requirements. Locus Landscape, led by Gonzalo Morillo, integrated the surrounding outdoor environment into the overall residential design scheme.

5Construction and Material Suppliers

General construction was executed by GMV Proyectos, obras y reformas S.L. The project incorporated high-end materials from various manufacturers, including Cerámica Mayor, Gröel, and HOLCIM ESPAÑA S.A.U. Additional components were sourced from Hager, Marmolera vallisoletana, Panoramah!, and Studio Ore, ensuring that the material quality matched the ambitious architectural goals of the design team.

6Visual Documentation and Presentation

The architectural documentation was captured by photographers Rocío R. Rivas and Miguel de Guzmán of Imagen Subliminal. Their visual record highlights the interplay between the concrete structure and the interior spaces. These images serve as the primary medium for understanding how the residential program functions within the 897 square meter footprint.

7Residential Architecture Context

This project represents a trend in contemporary Spanish residential architecture where material-focused design dictates the spatial experience. By utilizing concrete as the core element, the architects move away from decorative ornamentation, focusing instead on the raw texture and structural honesty of the building. This approach emphasizes durability and long-term environmental sustainability.

8Significance of the Development

The completion of the Concrete House in 2025 marks a notable addition to the architectural landscape of northwestern Madrid. By successfully coordinating multiple engineering disciplines and high-quality material suppliers, the project demonstrates the viability of large-scale residential concrete construction. It stands as a testament to the collaborative efforts of modern architectural firms.
