OpenLogi: Privacy-Focused Local Alternative for Logitech Devices
Manage your Logitech devices without cloud dependency or telemetry.
1Logitech Alternative
OpenLogi is a local-first, privacy-focused alternative to Logitech Options+, written in Rust. Users can manage Logitech mice, keyboards, and cameras without cloud accounts or telemetry. It supports button remapping, DPI adjustment, and SmartShift features via the HID++ protocol. The software is free and open-source under MIT/Apache-2.0 license.
2User-Friendly Interface
The app features a central mouse diagram with clickable hotspots and a per-button action picker. Users can assign any of 44 built-in actions to each physical button. Custom shortcuts, app launchers, and scripted actions are also supported. All configurations are stored in a simple TOML file owned by the user.
3DPI and SmartShift Control
OpenLogi allows setting and cycling through DPI presets by writing directly to the mouse sensor via HID++. The SmartShift feature enables switching between ratchet and free-spin wheel modes. All changes are applied instantly to the device without any cloud communication.
4Multi-Platform Support
Signed installers are available for macOS, Linux, and Windows. On macOS, installation can be done with a single Homebrew command. Linux offers .deb, .rpm, and Arch packages, while Windows provides signed .msi installers. Both x86_64 and arm64 architectures are supported across all platforms.
5Multiple Connection Options
Device management is available via Bolt, Unifying, or Lightspeed receivers, direct Bluetooth connection, or USB cable. Battery percentage and charging status are displayed in real-time for paired devices. Receiver-free connection options are also supported.
6Compatibility with Logitech Apps
Logi Options+ must be closed before using OpenLogi as both applications compete for HID++ access. The same applies to Solaar on Linux. When launched, OpenLogi loads all configurations instantly from the local file.
7Upcoming Features
The app will gain application-aware profile functionality in future releases. Users will be able to create button mappings that automatically switch based on the focused application. This feature will enable custom control schemes for different apps.
8Privacy and Control
OpenLogi offers a privacy-first approach where all connections remain local and no data is sent to the cloud. Users maintain full control over their devices while accessing all advanced features Logitech offers. This open-source solution is ideal for privacy-conscious users who want to avoid proprietary software dependencies.
