PITAKA Transforms Berlin Bunker Into Wheat Field for Aramid Case Launch at IFA 2026

Aramid fiber meets art installation in this immersive brand experience blending materials and perception.

1Aramid Fiber Illusion

PITAKA's 10,000-hour engineered aramid fiber tapestry mimics wheat fields and silk, despite being the same material used in body armor. The aerospace-grade material offers five times steel's strength-to-weight ratio. This paradoxical softness became the centerpiece of their 'Signals in the Wind' exhibition at The Feuerle Collection, a converted WWII telecommunications bunker with 2m-thick walls.

2Immersive Venue Storytelling

The minimalist installation featured only the tapestry, case displays on black stands, and a wheat-field soundscape by composer Temple Rat. PITAKA deliberately chose this historically charged venue to contrast delicate material perceptions with the bunker's brutalist architecture. Case displays stood at uneven heights to mimic real wheat's organic growth patterns.

3Wind Over Wheat Collection

Three limited-edition case finishes poetically capture wheat's lifecycle: Golden Drift (full sun), Surging Awn (young growth), and Berlin Nocturne (dusk). Each uses PITAKA's Trace Form technique allowing intentional fiber deviations, creating unique textures. The collection name became literal when guests discovered actual wheat-like grasses on the venue's terrace.

4Material Perception Experiment

The event challenged tactile expectations by making ultra-strong materials feel delicate. Visitors could physically compare the tapestry's softness against the bunker's concrete. This sensory contrast highlighted PITAKA's core innovation - transforming technical materials into emotionally resonant objects through texture engineering.

5Historical Venue Synergy

The Feuerle bunker's WWII origins created powerful juxtaposition with the wheat theme. Originally built to withstand bombs, it now hosted delicate-looking aramid artworks. This venue choice amplified PITAKA's brand narrative about resilience and transformation, using Berlin's layered history as an unspoken backdrop.

6Multisensory Brand Experience

PITAKA combined tactile, visual and auditory elements for full immersion. The soundscape used actual wheat-field recordings while uneven lighting simulated wind patterns. This 360-degree approach turned product specs into emotional storytelling, making technical achievements feel artistic and organic.

7Trace Form Innovation

PITAKA's new manufacturing technique intentionally lets fibers stray from programmed paths, creating organic variations. Unlike precision-focused competitors, they embraced controlled imperfections. Each case becomes unique while maintaining structural integrity, merging artisanal qualities with aerospace-grade engineering.

8Event as Material Manifesto

By transforming a military bunker into a wheat field, PITAKA redefined how tech materials can engage senses. The limited Trace Form Edition (launching Sept 17) extends this philosophy to products. This launch sets new standards for brand experiences in the accessories market, blending engineering with poetic storytelling.
