Courvoisier Launches Global Campaign Centered on House Party Culture
The cognac brand shifts strategy to target Gen Z through intimate social experiences.
1Strategic Shift in Positioning
Courvoisier has launched its first global campaign in years, moving away from traditional upscale lounge settings. Partnering with BBDO Paris, the brand now targets Gen Z by embracing the intimate house party aesthetic. This pivot reflects changing alcohol consumption habits and a desire for more relaxed, authentic social environments for consumers.
2Creative Direction by Ibra Ake
Grammy-winning director Ibra Ake leads the visual narrative, drawing inspiration from hip-hop culture and the iconic Busta Rhymes track. Filmed in Atlanta, the minute-long video depicts a bottle of Courvoisier circulating through various rooms. The goal is to capture the spontaneity and genuine human connection inherent in private party settings.
3New York City Experiential Activations
Following the October 20 launch, the brand is hosting two major events in New York City. On October 21, Fosun Plaza transforms into an open living room hosted by Terrence J and Rocsi Diaz. The following day, a phone-free House of Courvoisier event emphasizes screen-free, community-centric hospitality for all attendees.
4Data-Driven Consumer Insights
Research indicates that house parties are significant social hubs, with 70% of U.S. and U.K. residents having attended one. Data shows 60% of consumers associate these gatherings with their best memories. Furthermore, one in five people report meeting lifelong friends or new acquaintances at such events, validating the campaign's focus.
5Focus on Screen-Free Engagement
As consumers increasingly seek to disconnect from digital devices, experiential marketing has become a primary tool for brands. Courvoisier’s campaign directly addresses this desire for togetherness. By creating environments free from screens, the brand aims to foster meaningful interactions that resonate more deeply than traditional digital advertising or social media.
6Campari’s Financial Context
Campari finalized its acquisition of Courvoisier Holding France S.A.S. in 2024 for $1.17 billion. While the company reported a 1% year-over-year sales decline for the six months ending June 2026, the House of Cognac Champagne segment demonstrated resilience. This segment achieved a 4.6% net sales growth, bolstered by strong performance in Asia-Pacific.
7Regional Market Performance
The brand maintains a stable presence in the United States, which remains a critical market for its growth strategy. Strong performance in South Africa and the Asia-Pacific region has helped offset broader fluctuations. This global footprint provides the necessary foundation for the brand to execute its new, culturally-aligned marketing initiatives effectively.
8Future Brand Implications
The campaign represents a calculated risk to modernize the brand's image through cultural relevance rather than exclusivity. By relinquishing a sense of total control and leaning into organic social dynamics, Courvoisier attempts to prove its authenticity. Success will depend on whether these experiential efforts can sustain long-term engagement with younger demographics.
