Shokz OpenFit Air 2 Earbuds: 17% Lighter
The new generation earbuds offer comfort with an open-ear design.
1Shokz OpenFit Air 2 Launched
Shokz has introduced the OpenFit Air 2 earbuds. This new model is 17% lighter than the previous version, weighing just 7.2 grams per unit. This is equivalent to a handful of paperclips. The open-ear design ensures no pressure on the ear canal, making it ideal for outdoor activities in busy cities.
2Advantages of Open-Ear Design
The OpenFit Air 2's open-ear design avoids any blockage in the ear canal, ensuring comfort during long use. It also allows users to hear ambient sounds, enhancing safety. This feature is particularly beneficial for runners. The Shokz OpenAir 2 has been listed among the best headphones for running.
3Ear Hook Design
The earbuds connect via an ear hook. The ergonomic design ensures long-term comfort. However, these hooks may cause compatibility issues with glasses and certain hats. Users should consider this aspect carefully. The design's pros and cons need to be evaluated.
4Sound Quality and Features
Shokz promises 'richer bass' and 'fuller sound' with the OpenFit Air 2. The earbuds use the company's proprietary Bassphere driver and OpenBass 2.0 algorithm. An angled speaker directs sound toward the ear for a 'more natural listening experience.' The app offers four preset EQ modes and two custom EQ profiles.
5Battery Life and Charging Features
The OpenFit Air 2 offers eight hours of use on a single charge, with up to 36 hours including the charging case. A 10-minute quick charge provides three hours of playback. The earbuds are compatible with Bluetooth 6.1 and support multipoint connections. They will be available on August 27 for $130.
6OpenRun Air 2 Earbuds
Shokz has also launched the OpenRun Air 2 earbuds. This model features a design that wraps around the back of the head. It is lighter than the previous version and prioritizes stability. Designed specifically for runners, it uses bone conduction technology and connects to the company's app for EQ adjustments.
7OpenRun Air 2 Battery Life
The OpenRun Air 2 offers 10 hours of use on a single charge. A five-minute quick charge provides two hours of playback. This model will also be available on August 27 for $130. Both models are tailored for athletes and meet users' specific needs.
8Conclusion and Recommendations
Shokz's new earbuds stand out with their open-ear design and lightweight build. They offer comfort and safety, especially for athletes. However, the ear hook design may pose issues for some users. Sound quality and battery life are quite satisfactory for this price range. An ideal choice for runners and outdoor sports enthusiasts.
