Hims & Hers Rebrands Australia's Juniper to Launch Comprehensive Women's Clinic

The US telehealth giant expands beyond weight loss following its $1.6 billion Eucalyptus acquisition.

1Australian Brand Transition

US telehealth company Hims & Hers Health is launching its women's brand, Hers, in Australia. This move officially retires Juniper, the weight-loss platform launched by Sydney start-up Eucalyptus in 2021. The transition follows the rebranding of Eucalyptus' men's health platform, Pilot, to Hims in August.

2Consolidating the Acquisition

The rebranding finalizes the $1.6 billion acquisition of Eucalyptus completed earlier this year. Former Eucalyptus chief executive Tim Doyle, now senior vice-president of international, noted that local brands lacked international appeal. Eucalyptus continues to employ roughly 250 staff in Australia, maintaining its pre-takeover headcount growth rate.

3Broader Clinical Offerings

Hers shifts the platform from a weight-oriented service into a comprehensive digital clinic. In addition to weight management, the platform introduces treatment programs for menopause and hair loss. Existing Juniper patients will retain their Australian practitioners, care teams, treatment plans, pricing structures, and current medication supplies.

4Integrating Applied AI

Hims & Hers integrated an engineering and AI team hired from autonomous vehicle company Cruise to develop care management tools. Australian patients will use a newly updated app where triage algorithms manage initial inquiries. The platform directs cases requiring clinical judgment to registered healthcare providers.

5Local Pricing Structure

The platform offers TGA-approved weight-loss treatments, including Wegovy and Mounjaro, starting at $349 monthly. Menopause programs require a $99 initial consultation with treatment starting from $17 per month. Hair loss services charge a $24.99 consultation fee, operating entirely on approved on-label medications.

6Regulatory Compliance Boundaries

Unlike the US market where compounded GLP-1 alternatives drove early volume, Australia prohibited compounded versions in October 2024. Furthermore, Australian regulations ban direct-to-consumer advertising of prescription drugs. Hers must pivot its marketing strategy toward educational content regarding symptoms rather than running American-style promotional campaigns.

7Medical Community Concerns

The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners expressed caution regarding subscription-based prescribing models. RACGP president Michael Wright warned that fragmented digital consultations cannot substitute comprehensive primary care. In response, Hers confirmed practitioners assess patients via phone consultations and can share records with external GPs.

8Anticipating Sector Standards

Company leadership welcomed upcoming telehealth-specific regulatory frameworks, anticipating formalized national standards within 12 months. Standardized operating rules are expected to provide clearer market parameters across digital health. Concurrently, Hims & Hers is evaluating further international expansion opportunities across European and South American markets.
