The device maintains the original console's horizontal form factor while incorporating modern tech. Its 3.5-inch LCD screen offers 960x640 resolution while preserving the 3:2 aspect ratio. The enhanced control system features ABXY buttons, additional menu keys, and shoulder buttons, making it stand out in the retro gaming market. ## Connectivity and audio features Equipped with USB-C port, microSD slot, and Wi-Fi/Bluetooth support, the device meets current standards while including a 3.5mm headphone jack and volume wheel. These features maintain retro aesthetics while addressing modern user needs. Unlike previous models, Ayaneo plans larger production quantities for this device, potentially making it more accessible to gaming enthusiasts worldwide. ## Color options and design The Konkr Pocket Advance will be available in two color variants: navy blue reminiscent of classic indigo Game Boy Advance and coral orange referencing the Spice Orange edition. The design blends original console's retro appeal with contemporary touches, targeting collectors and nostalgia-driven gamers. Color choices clearly pay homage to Nintendo's iconic variants while offering fresh visual alternatives. ## Technical upgrades and improvements Compared to original Game Boy Advance, the device features significantly higher resolution display for enhanced gaming experience. Additional shoulder buttons and menu keys accommodate modern game controls. Ayaneo hints at broader availability compared to their limited-edition Pocket Micro 2, though exact pricing and release timeline remain undisclosed. These improvements position it as a premium retro gaming option. ## Production and accessibility Ayaneo's previous Pocket Micro 2 sold out within minutes due to extremely limited production. The company suggests larger manufacturing plans for Konkr Pocket Advance, potentially making it more accessible to retro gaming enthusiasts. However, concrete production numbers and distribution details haven't been revealed yet. This approach might help avoid the frustration caused by immediate sell-outs of previous limited editions. ## Trend in retro gaming market Interest in retro gaming consoles has been steadily growing in recent years. Third-party manufacturers like Ayaneo aim to meet this demand by modernizing classic consoles. The Konkr Pocket Advance joins this trend, offering nostalgic journey through 90s and early 2000s gaming culture. Its release timing capitalizes on 25th anniversary nostalgia while introducing contemporary conveniences to classic gameplay experiences. ## Comparison with competing products Among retro console clones, Konkr Pocket Advance stands out by faithfully preserving Game Boy Advance's horizontal form factor. While competitors like Anbernic and Retroid typically opt for vertical designs, Ayaneo stays true to the original layout. The device also distinguishes itself through screen quality and connectivity options, potentially appealing to discerning retro gaming enthusiasts seeking authentic yet upgraded experiences. ## Position in gaming industry Konkr Pocket Advance's launch signals continued growth in retro gaming market. Devices blending classic gameplay with modern comforts attract both collectors and new generation gamers. Ayaneo's move represents strategic expansion in retro gaming segment, potentially strengthening their market position. This release demonstrates how nostalgia-driven products maintain relevance in evolving gaming landscape while catering to specific consumer demographics. ## Sources covering this story - https://www.engadget.com/2228464/ayaneo-game-boy-advance-remake-konkr-pocket-advance/ — --- _Summary written by Brifing from the original reporting.
