Apple Expands American Manufacturing Program for New iPhone Lineup
Strategic partnerships with U.S. suppliers bolster domestic production of critical iPhone components.
1Strategic Domestic Partnerships
Apple is deepening its American Manufacturing Program by partnering with Pennsylvania-based Perryman Company to supply titanium for the new iPhone Duo. This initiative includes a 100 million dollar commitment over three years. Perryman will utilize at least 80 percent recycled content in its titanium forging process at its Houston, Pennsylvania site.
2Advanced Camera Technology
The company is expanding its collaboration with Qnity Electronics to manufacture advanced films for the iPhone 18 Pro camera system. These components are essential for the new variable aperture technology within the 48MP Fusion Main camera. This integration enables superior light and depth control, supported by on-device intelligence for sharper imaging.
3Scaling Chip Production
Broadcom is modernizing its Fort Collins, Colorado facility following a 1.5 billion dollar capital investment announced in July. This multiyear agreement aims to produce over 15 billion U.S.-made radio frequency chips. Simultaneously, TSMC’s Arizona fab is scaling operations, targeting production of more than 100 million chips for Apple devices by 2026.
4Specialized Component Supply
Corning continues its long-standing partnership by producing specialty glass, including Ceramic Shield, at its Harrodsburg, Kentucky plant. By the end of 2026, this facility will supply all cover glass for iPhones and Apple Watches sold globally. Additionally, Coherent provides laser technology from its Sherman, Texas site to support Face ID functionality.
5Packaging and Infrastructure
Amkor Technology has commenced construction on a high-volume packaging and test facility in Peoria, Arizona. The project, which broke ground in September 2025, is expected to support a workforce of over 3,500 local employees. Apple will serve as one of the facility’s primary customers to expand its U.S. advanced manufacturing scope.
6Environmental Sustainability Goals
Apple mandates that all direct suppliers transition to renewable energy by the end of the decade to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030. These manufacturing partnerships prioritize the use of recycled materials and energy-efficient processes. This environmental commitment is integrated into the production requirements for all components sourced within the United States.
7Advanced Manufacturing Training
In August, Apple opened its second U.S. manufacturing learning site, the Advanced Manufacturing Center, in Houston, Texas. The 20,000-square-foot facility trains small- and medium-sized businesses on Apple’s proprietary production processes. The center also serves as a production hub for advanced AI servers and will begin manufacturing the Mac mini later this year.
8Economic Impact Summary
Apple currently supports over 450,000 American jobs through its supplier network across all 50 states. The company’s broader 600 billion dollar, four-year commitment aims to bolster domestic innovation and component production. By localizing nearly 100 critical components, Apple is significantly increasing its industrial footprint and technical capabilities within the United States.
