1A creative workspace

Public Art Company has transformed its studio on Hyperion Avenue in Los Angeles into an inspiring environment for its team. The bold and colorful design stands out, serving as a space to create and curate large-scale artworks for campuses, developments, and public spaces. Founder Raffi Lehrer and his team renovated the studio, filling it with contemporary art and collectible furniture.

2Muppets and acid theme

The studio's design features a bold, eclectic aesthetic that a friend once described as 'muppets on acid.' This unique atmosphere was carefully crafted to inspire creativity among the team. Notable pieces in the studio include Katie Stout's large anthropomorphic sofa, Pepita the Couch, and a small pink lamp.

3Flexible and functional space

The studio can be easily reconfigured thanks to a curtain system designed by Carlos Medellin. This system allows the space to adapt for meetings, parties, or open studio use as needed. Materials like polycarbonate sheets and cork tiles enhance both acoustics and visual appeal.

4Where art meets design

The studio is adorned with works by artists like Julieta Gil, Kumkum Fernando, and Philip Mueller. Standout pieces, such as Bjarke Ingels' green chairs for Fritz Hansen and Ben Klevay's colorful typography, add character to the space. Personal touches, like a desk and green candelabra built by Raffi Lehrer himself, further personalize the studio.

5LA's creative ecosystem

Los Angeles is known for its concentration of design and creative agencies. Public Art Company's studio continues this tradition of eclectic workspaces. Other examples in the city include Charlap Hyman Herrero's futuristic office and West of West's sculptural wooden staircase at Puma Studios.

6Bold architectural choices

The studio's design replaces traditional ceiling panels with polycarbonate sheets, exposing the structure above. This adds an industrial vibe while allowing natural light to filter in. Cork-tile flooring provides a soft touch and improves acoustic performance.

7Community and interaction

At the center of the studio, a chunky blue table and chairs by Matt Nichols create an ideal spot for informal meetings and conversations. This design encourages interaction among team members. The raised platform at the back of the studio also serves as a versatile space for events.

8The importance of creativity

Public Art Company's studio demonstrates how creativity and original design can elevate a workspace. Such environments not only boost employee motivation but also communicate the company's vision and values to clients and visitors. The studio serves as an inspiring example of how art and design can be integrated into daily work life.
