1Project Cancellation Announced

Sony has officially cancelled the mobile spin-off Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble. Initially announced in November 2025, the title was developed by Oh BiBi in collaboration with Insomniac Games. The project aimed to bring the popular platformer series to mobile devices as a fast-paced multiplayer arena shooter for a global audience.

2Soft Launch History

The game initially soft-launched in the Philippines and Indonesia during November 2025. Following this, it expanded into several other regions, including Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, France, Canada, and the UK. Despite this regional rollout, the title will not receive a full global release, marking the end of its development cycle.

3Shutdown Timeline Details

The final planned update for the game is rolling out today. Following this, the application will be delisted from mobile stores on November 21. Players currently holding the game can continue to access it until the servers are permanently shut down on May 1, 2027, rendering the title completely unplayable thereafter.

4In-App Purchase Changes

All in-app purchases have been removed from the game effective immediately. Players can still earn rewards through gameplay, which can be spent on upgrades, cosmetics, characters, and various currencies. This transition aims to provide a final experience for existing users while phasing out the game's monetization systems before the final shutdown.

5Qwark Pass Adjustments

The game's Qwark Pass seasons will remain active until the final server closure on May 1, 2027. Furthermore, the Super Pass has been made free for all players, allowing them to access premium content without additional cost. These adjustments serve as a gesture of appreciation to the community that supported the development.

6Official Development Stance

The development team issued a statement confirming the difficult decision to cease all work on Ranger Rumble. They expressed gratitude to the community for their support, feedback, and active participation during the development phase. The team acknowledged the role players played in shaping the game's mechanics and features throughout its limited lifespan.

7Original Gameplay Vision

The game was originally marketed as a chaotic arena shooter where players could customize their Rangers. The synopsis invited users to jump, dash, and grind while collecting bolts to become a Galactic Ranger. It featured iconic elements from the series, including the watchful presence of Captain Qwark, designed for mobile-first competitive play.

8Broader Industry Context

The cancellation of Ranger Rumble highlights the volatile nature of the mobile gaming market, even for established intellectual properties. Sony's decision to halt this project reflects a strategic shift in their mobile portfolio management. Future mobile efforts from major publishers often face similar scrutiny regarding long-term engagement and sustainable monetization models.
