The global memory crisis, triggered by the rise of AI data centers, has reduced supply for consumer products. Some devices have seen price increases exceeding 200%. ## Amazon's discount campaign Amazon has launched significant discounts on storage devices ahead of back-to-school season. The sale covers a wide range from Samsung SSDs to NAS servers and compact flash drives. While prices aren't at pre-crisis levels, they offer substantial savings opportunities. ## Featured products The campaign includes popular products like Samsung T9 Portable SSD (4TB), Samsung T7 Portable SSD (4TB), and OSCOO External Hard Drive (1TB). Professional solutions like UGREEN DH2300 2-Bay Desktop NAS are also discounted, providing options for various user needs. ## Causes of memory crisis The rapid rise of AI technology has exploded demand for memory products in data centers. This caused supply shortages in consumer electronics market as manufacturers shifted capacity to industrial use, driving up prices for consumer devices. ## When will the crisis end? Experts predict the global RAM crisis will last until at least 2027. Some analyses suggest conditions may worsen in 2027 compared to current situation. Therefore, users with storage needs are advised to act early. ## Why act now? With prices expected to rise further in coming years, Amazon's discounts present a valuable opportunity. It's particularly timely for those looking to expand storage capacity before school season. Early adopters will both save money and hedge against future price increases. ## Sources covering this story - https://www.androidcentral.com/accessories/amazon-back-to-school-storage-devices-sale-2026 — --- _Summary written by Brifing from the original reporting.
