Find My App Points to Wrong Address: How to Deal with Visitors?
People whose iPhones are lost keep coming to my door due to the Find My app.
1The Beginning of the Problem
For the past 3-4 years, people whose iPhones are lost have been coming to our house because of the Find My app. Initially, two men knocked on our door and said their phone was stolen, and the app directed them here. Only my mother lives with me, and there is no one else in the house.
2Repeated Incidents
Since that day, we have experienced similar situations at least 4-5 times. Young men come to our door with their iPads or friends' phones saying 'My phone is here.' This is both frustrating and concerning because we are two women living alone.
3Accuracy of the Location
Our house is on a corner, and there is distance between us and our closest neighbors. To our left is an elderly couple, and to our right is a young family. Across from us is an apartment block, but the Find My location points exactly to our driveway.
4AirTag Tracking
A few years ago, I received an 'AirTag nearby' alert on my own phone. This alert disappeared after a while. The recurrence of this situation suggests there might be a technical issue.
5Security Concerns
This situation repeats a few times a year, and the visitors are usually young, angry men. As two women, this situation worries us. We thought about contacting the police, but we're not sure what they can do.
6Seeking Solutions
If anyone else has experienced this problem, please share your experiences. We want to understand why the Find My app behaves this way and how we can deal with it. We are looking for technical support or other solutions.
