## Watching Movies with Smart Glasses

XREAL's a01 smart glasses, launched in May 2026, offer a new way to watch movies and TV shows. These glasses function as an external monitor, connecting via USB-C without needing an internal battery. Users can link the glasses to their preferred device to stream content.

## Technical Specifications

The XREAL a01 features dual mini OLED panels, delivering 1080p resolution and 1,600 nits of brightness. This ensures vibrant colors and sharp images. When projected onto a wall, the glasses create a home theater or drive-in movie experience. In a dark room, they mimic a cinema setting.

## Gaming and Movie Watching

The a01 is optimized for gaming, compatible with devices like the Steam Deck. However, XREAL also markets it for watching movies and TV shows. Users can connect the glasses to their personal laptops to enjoy films.

## Ease of Use

The glasses can also connect to phones, though older iPhone models require an adapter. This allows users to watch movies without being confined to indoor spaces. Enjoy films while traveling on planes or trains.

## Screen Mirroring Issue

The glasses mirror the phone screen, requiring the phone to stay active. This creates redundancy, as the same content plays on both devices. Placing the phone in your pocket is a partial solution but risks disrupting playback.

## Overheating Problem

The a01 heats up quickly, causing a tingling sensation on the nose bridge and eyes. This is a known issue with XR glasses, as electronic components in compact devices generate heat.

## Comfort and Lightweight Design

Despite the heating issue, the a01 is lightweight and comfortable. Compared to Snap's Specs, it is less bulky and more user-friendly. The glasses don’t take up much space on the face and are suitable for extended use.

## Future Models

XREAL continues to innovate its product line. The upcoming Project Aura promises a more advanced experience. Powered by Android XR, Aura will offer more immersive and convenient features.
