OPPO Find X10 Ultra Explores MediaTek and Snapdragon Chipset Options
OPPO evaluates shifting its flagship camera phone to MediaTek while maintaining Snapdragon development.
1Strategic Chipset Testing
OPPO is currently testing the Dimensity 9600 Pro for its upcoming Find X10 Ultra flagship. This potential shift away from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon series marks a significant pivot in hardware strategy. However, development of a Snapdragon-powered variant remains ongoing, suggesting the final market configuration is not yet locked for the 2027 release.
2MediaTek Performance Specs
The Dimensity 9600 Pro is manufactured using TSMC’s 2nm process technology. It features two C2-Ultra cores capable of reaching 4.55GHz, supported by six additional performance cores. OPPO has already confirmed this specific processor for the Find X10 Pro Max, making it a technically viable candidate for the more premium Ultra model.
3Imaging Engine Continuity
Regardless of the final chipset choice, OPPO intends to maintain its proprietary imaging capabilities. The company is developing custom algorithms specifically designed to integrate with its Lumo True Image Engine. This approach ensures that camera-processing quality remains consistent, even if the underlying silicon architecture changes between the MediaTek and Snapdragon versions.
4Advanced Sensor Hardware
The Find X10 Ultra is rumored to feature a sophisticated camera array, including a 200MP main sensor with a 1/1.12-inch size. It incorporates Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor technology to enhance dynamic range and prevent highlight clipping. These hardware-centric features are intended to provide superior photography results beyond standard mobile industry benchmarks.
5Telephoto Capabilities
Beyond the primary sensor, the device is expected to include a 200MP periscope telephoto camera. A secondary 50MP periscope lens will provide 10x optical zoom functionality. Additionally, reports indicate plans for a 100MP front-facing camera, signaling a heavy focus on high-resolution imaging across all focal lengths for the upcoming flagship device.
6Differentiation Challenges
If OPPO adopts MediaTek for both the Find X10 Ultra and the Pro Max, the company must find new ways to distinguish the Ultra model. Differentiation will likely rely on camera hardware and imaging software rather than raw chipset performance. This shifts the competitive value proposition toward optics and proprietary processing engines.
7Qualcomm Market Position
Despite the MediaTek testing, Qualcomm remains a strong contender for the final product. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 is currently considered the more likely candidate for the production model. OPPO has not officially confirmed the final hardware configuration, leaving room for strategic adjustments before the scheduled launch in early 2027.
8Future Market Outlook
The Find X10 Ultra is slated for a release in the Chinese market during the first half of 2027. While Qualcomm currently holds the edge in flagship adoption, MediaTek’s inclusion in testing indicates a growing capability to compete at the highest tier. Industry observers should monitor upcoming hardware confirmations for final specifications.
