This result follows Manchester City’s recent 3-1 defeat against Nottingham Forest, significantly strengthening Arsenal's position as the current defending champions in the ongoing title race. ## Guimaraes Midfield Impact Bruno Guimaraes delivered a standout performance during his fourth Premier League start since his £75 million summer transfer from Newcastle United. Playing alongside Declan Rice, the Brazilian international demonstrated significant growth in midfield. Mikel Arteta noted that Guimaraes is hitting serious levels, though he believes further development remains entirely possible. ## Arteta’s Tactical Philosophy Following the match, Mikel Arteta publicly urged his squad to abandon their persistent quest for scoring the perfect goal. Despite the 1-0 win, the manager signaled a shift in tactical expectations, emphasizing that the team must prioritize efficiency and results over aesthetic perfection in their attacking play moving forward this season. ## Madueke’s Resilient Performance Noni Madueke received specific praise from Arteta for his lively display on the right flank while filling in for Bukayo Saka. The manager highlighted Madueke’s professional reaction to limited playing time, noting that he returned to training with a different mindset. His recent contributions have been described by Arteta as incredible. ## Odegaard’s Decisive Contribution Martin Odegaard provided the crucial moment of the match by scoring the only goal during the second half. His strike was the difference-maker against Hull City, ensuring Arsenal claimed all three points. This goal underscores the team's reliance on individual moments of quality when collective attacking patterns face defensive resistance. ## Squad Depth Dynamics The integration of players like Guimaraes and Madueke highlights Arsenal's focus on squad depth during a demanding campaign. Arteta’s comments suggest that earning the right to play is a prerequisite for selection. By demanding more from his players, the manager aims to sustain high performance levels despite potential injuries or absences. ## Managerial Expectations Evolving Arteta’s post-match remarks indicate a clear focus on continuous improvement for every squad member. By telling Guimaraes in the dressing room that there is still much more to come, the manager sets a high bar for his players. This approach aims to prevent complacency while maintaining the team's current momentum. ## Future Tactical Outlook As Arsenal maintains its six-point lead, the focus shifts toward maintaining consistency against diverse defensive setups. The transition from seeking perfect goals to more pragmatic play will be a key theme for the upcoming fixtures. Observers should monitor how the midfield partnership of Rice and Guimaraes evolves under these new instructions. ## Sources covering this story - [ESPN FC — Arteta Urges Arsenal to Abandon Quest for Perfect Goals](https://www.espn.co.uk/football/story/_/id/50410317/mikel-arteta-arsenal-hull-premier-league) - [Metro UK — Mikel Arteta Praises Bruno Guimaraes After Arsenal Victory Over Hull City](https://metro.co.uk/2026/11/07/mikel-arteta-says-arsenal-star-hitting-serious-levels-hull-city-win-29774217/) - [The Independent – Sport — Mikel Arteta Identifies Two Missing Elements for Arsenal's Growth](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/arsenal-hull-score-goals-result-premier-league-martin-odegaard-b3081032.html) --- _Summary written by Brifing from the original reporting.
