1Project Highlights

Designed by Simone Jazbik Arquitetura, MFA House is built on a 943 m² plot in Búzios, Brazil. The 348 m² residence sits within a gated community and features a modern design suited for beach living. The project was specifically created for a lawyer couple in their 50s and their two daughters. This represents the fourth residential project the firm has designed for this family.

2Architectural Approach

The house features an open floor plan that blurs boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces. The use of local materials and emphasis on natural lighting stand out. Architects prioritized sustainable design principles throughout the project. Large glass surfaces allow sea views from every room.

3Client Relationship

This project demonstrates the long-term collaboration between the architecture firm and their clients. The family had previously worked with Simone Jazbik on three different residential projects. Initially planned for weekend and seasonal use, the house gradually became the family's primary residence between Rio de Janeiro and Búzios.

4Location and Environment

Búzios is known as one of Rio de Janeiro's most prestigious vacation spots. The gated community offers both security and privacy. The landscape design by Heloisa Dantas harmonizes with natural vegetation. The tropical climate influenced the generous outdoor living spaces.

5Construction Process

The construction team led by José Alvarez ensured high-quality completion. Finished in 2025, the house was photographed by André Nazareth. Architects aimed to reflect the region's spirit using local craftsmanship and materials. The building's orientation considers wind patterns for optimal sea views.

6Spatial Organization

Interior spaces were tailored to the family's daily needs. Common areas are spacious and interconnected, while bedrooms ensure privacy. The open kitchen concept enhances social interaction. Special attention was given to storage solutions throughout the design.

7Material Selection

Natural stone, wood, and concrete dominate the material palette. These choices balance aesthetics with functionality. Material textures combine to enrich spatial experiences. Energy-efficient glass was used for large windows. Exterior materials were selected for durability against local weather conditions.

8Design Significance

MFA House exemplifies successful long-term architect-client relationships. The design merges functionality with aesthetics to enhance living quality. The project offers a contemporary interpretation of Búzios' architectural identity. It provides flexible spatial organization adaptable to the family's evolving needs.
