Steam Updates Gift and Wishlist Features
You can now gift games without a Steam account and organize your wishlist into categories.
1Purchasing Games with Guest Accounts
Steam now allows purchasing games with guest accounts. This feature simplifies the game buying process, especially for users without a Steam account. Previously, guest accounts were only usable for gift cards and Steam hardware, but now they can be used to buy games directly.
2Gifting Games via Email
Steam has also made gifting games easier. You can now send games directly via email. Previously, you needed to know the recipient's Steam account, but now you can gift games even with just their email address. The only limitation is that you must be in the same country as the recipient.
3Wishlist Categorization
Steam has enhanced the wishlist feature. You can now organize saved games into categories. These categories can be thought of as a folder or tag system. You can name categories as you like and easily add games to them.
4Category Filtering
From the top of Steam's wishlist page, you can select a category to filter your list to only the games in that category. This feature is particularly useful for users with long wishlists.
5Notification Settings
Steam allows you to enable or disable notifications for wishlist items in specific categories. This means you can receive notifications only for the categories you're interested in, rather than your entire wishlist.
6Additional Small Improvements
Alongside major updates, Steam has made some small improvements. You can now generate shareable links to your wishlist or specific categories, see demos for saved games, and play trailers for games on your wishlist by hovering over them.
