1Project Vision

Biazus Arquitetura designed Ocean House as a beachfront family retreat capable of hosting large groups. The architects prioritized creating shaded, comfortable spaces through strong horizontal planes that define the structure's character. The 500m² residence balances private family areas with entertainment spaces, responding directly to the clients' need for extended stays and weekend hosting.

2Spatial Composition

The home features an innovative split-level living area with double-height ceilings that enhance spatial perception. This vertical separation creates distinct zones while maintaining visual connectivity. The architects strategically used level changes to define functions without walls, allowing natural light to penetrate deep into the interior. This approach achieves both openness and intimate scales within the same volume.

3Material Palette

Natural materials dominate the project, with extensive use of stone and wood creating warmth and texture. The stone elements provide thermal mass and connect the structure to its coastal setting, while wood introduces organic warmth. These materials were selected for their durability in the beach environment and their ability to age gracefully, requiring minimal maintenance over the residence's lifetime.

4Climate Response

The horizontal planes serve a dual purpose: architectural expression and environmental control. These broad overhangs create deep shade patterns that protect interiors from intense coastal sun while allowing sea breezes to circulate. The design minimizes direct solar gain during peak hours, reducing cooling loads. Operable openings are strategically placed to promote cross-ventilation throughout all living spaces.

5Structural Engineering

Videl Engenharia provided comprehensive engineering solutions, ensuring the horizontal planes' structural integrity. Their work included calculating precise cantilever lengths that achieve the desired aesthetic without compromising safety. The engineering team coordinated closely with architects to conceal necessary supports within the design, maintaining clean lines throughout the residence.

6Interior Experience

The split-level organization creates dynamic interior vistas that change with movement through the space. Double-height volumes amplify the sense of openness in social areas, while lowered ceilings in private zones provide intimacy. This careful modulation of space makes the 500m² residence feel expansive yet cozy, with each area having appropriate proportions for its function.

7Construction Timeline

Scheduled for completion in 2025, the project demonstrates efficient coordination between architecture and engineering teams. The use of local materials and straightforward construction techniques contributes to the achievable timeline. The phased approach allows for quality control at each stage, particularly important for the precise execution of horizontal elements that define the design.

8Design Significance

Ocean House represents contemporary Brazilian architecture that responds thoughtfully to climate and lifestyle. Biazus Arquitetura's solution successfully merges aesthetic boldness with functional family living. The project sets a benchmark for beach residences by proving that dramatic architectural gestures can coexist with practical, livable spaces designed for real-world use.
