Rike Concert Hall in Tbilisi Set for Demolition

Studio Fuksas-designed building to be demolished without ever being used.

1Fate of Rike Concert Hall

Designed by Italian architecture firm Studio Fuksas, the Rike Concert Hall is set to be demolished less than 15 years after its completion. Tbilisi's city hall has granted the owner a demolition permit, initiating the process.

2A Decade of Disuse

Largely completed in 2012, the building has sat unused in Rhike Park for over a decade. Following a change in government, the project was abandoned, and the hall never opened to the public.

3Change of Ownership

Sold to a property developer in 2022, the building was transferred to Makro Constructions in 2025. The new owner decided to demolish the structure and began the process.

4Mayor's Statement

Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze described the building as 'a garbage dump in very bad condition.' Kaladze emphasized that the structure was non-functional, leading to the decision to demolish it.

5Future Projects

No definitive plans have been announced for the site post-demolition. However, a hotel had previously been considered. The city hall is awaiting new proposals and will inform the public accordingly.

6Legacy of Studio Fuksas

Founded by Massimiliano and Doriana Fuksas, Studio Fuksas is one of Italy's leading architecture firms. The Rike Concert Hall was one of their globally recognized projects.
