IBGE Launches Massive Recruitment for 2027 Agricultural Census Across Brazil
Over 27,000 temporary positions are available for data collection in rural agricultural establishments.
1Nationwide Recruitment Drive
The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics has officially opened a selection process for 27,279 temporary census workers. These professionals will support the 12th Agricultural, Forestry, and Aquaculture Census scheduled for 2027. Applications are open until November 25, managed by the Cesgranrio Foundation, with a mandatory registration fee of 70 Brazilian Reais.
2Focus on Tocantins Region
Within the national scope, the state of Tocantins has been allocated 523 specific positions. These recruits will operate across 107 different municipalities to ensure comprehensive coverage. This regional effort is part of the broader federal strategy to gather precise data on agricultural production, land usage, and labor force characteristics throughout Brazil.
3Compensation and Benefits Structure
Selected candidates receive a fixed monthly salary of 1,741 Reais. Performance-based productivity incentives can increase total monthly earnings up to 4,370 Reais. Additional benefits include a 1,192 Reais food allowance, pre-school assistance, proportional vacation pay with a one-third bonus, 13th-month salary, and specific reimbursements for work-related travel and displacement costs.
4Examination and Selection Process
The selection exam is scheduled for January 31, 2027, lasting four hours. Candidates must answer 60 questions covering Portuguese, Mathematics, and technical knowledge regarding the census. A minimum of 18 total points is required, with at least one correct answer per subject. Successful applicants must also complete a mandatory training program.
5Core Field Responsibilities
Recenseadores are tasked with visiting rural properties to conduct face-to-face interviews with producers. They must record data using electronic mobile devices, update property registries, and capture geographic coordinates. Maintaining strict confidentiality regarding the information provided by farmers is a primary duty, alongside meeting established productivity and quality targets for data collection.
6Contractual Terms and Duration
Initial employment contracts are set for a six-month duration. However, these agreements may be extended based on the specific operational needs of the institute. Under federal public administration laws, the total duration of these temporary contracts cannot exceed a maximum limit of four years, ensuring compliance with existing labor regulations.
7Strategic Data Objectives
The information gathered during this census serves as the fundamental basis for national statistical research. Policymakers utilize these findings to formulate public policies and plan governmental actions specifically tailored to the Brazilian agricultural sector. Accurate data on livestock, aquaculture, and crop production remains essential for effective long-term economic and rural planning.
8Operational Implementation Context
The census mechanism relies on the systematic identification and visitation of agricultural establishments. By digitizing the collection process, the institute aims to improve data accuracy and transmission efficiency. Prospective candidates should monitor the official website for updates, as the process requires high levels of technical proficiency and commitment to field work.
