Scimplify Secures $25M to Reshape Critical Materials Supply Chains
The Indian startup uses specialized AI agents to produce specialty chemicals and bypass Chinese supply dominance.
1Strategic Capital Injection
Bengaluru-based Scimplify raised $25 million in an all-equity round led by Hitachi Ventures, with strategic backing from Henkel, Teknor Apex, Accel India, and Bertelsmann India Investments. The round values the startup at $250 million, elevating its total equity funding to $80 million as demand surges across critical industrial sectors.
2Compressing Chemical Discovery
Scaling laboratory chemistry into commercial production typically requires 12 to 18 months of process validation. Scimplify compresses this timeline to just two months by developing chemical manufacturing workflows in its Bengaluru and Hyderabad laboratories before transferring production protocols directly to partner facilities across an extensive industrial footprint.
3Scinode AI Architecture
The startup operates a proprietary platform called Scinode, deploying specialized AI agents for research, manufacturing, and regulatory compliance. These agents reverse-engineer client requirements to identify optimal synthetic routes and suitable production facilities. The platform maintains persistent context to ensure reproducible output across a network of over 500 vetted manufacturing sites.
4Shifting Supply Geographies
Global supply chains remain heavily dependent on China for specialty chemicals and critical materials. Scimplify provides alternative sourcing by producing tungsten derivatives from scrap alongside rare-earth materials. About 90% of manufacturing currently occurs in India, with plans to expand physical production networks into the United States and Japan.
5Surging US Market Adoption
International clients now generate more than half of Scimplify's revenue, compared to under 5% eighteen months earlier. Its United States annualized run rate expanded sixfold over the past year to $60 million, representing roughly 30% of total revenue. Strategic customers include global giants like TDK, BASF, and Hitachi.
6Rapid Financial Scaling
Scimplify tripled its business over the past year to achieve a $200 million annualized revenue run rate. Founder Sachin Santhosh projects reaching $400 million next year. The company operated with positive EBITDA over the past two months and anticipates achieving net profitability after taxes within the current month.
7Sectoral Demand Realignment
Energy, electronics, and defense now account for 45% to 50% of total sales, rising from less than 15% last year. The rapid infrastructure expansion of artificial intelligence accelerates raw material needs in electronics, while geopolitical conflicts drive defense procurement. This dual tailwind sustains high order volumes across advanced product categories.
8Resource Allocation Strategy
The startup will allocate $7.5 million of the new funding toward American infrastructure and supply network expansion. An additional $2 million will fund Scinode software development. Employing 340 professionals, including 70 research scientists, Scimplify is positioned to operationalize sovereign supply chain alternatives for global Western manufacturers.
