1Innovative Folding Stove Concept

Developed in 2023 by designers Hao Kong and Qi Qiu, the Easy Cooking stove addresses the bulkiness of traditional camping gear. The concept features a folding mechanism that tucks the burner and pot supports into an elongated, rounded case, moving away from standard rectangular designs that require complex assembly during outdoor trips.

2Integrated Design and Mechanics

The stove utilizes a unique enclosure that serves dual purposes: protecting the burner during transport and housing the fuel cartridge during operation. By placing the fuel supply lengthwise inside the housing, the design eliminates the need for external hoses. A rotary dial and specific control labels guide users through the deployment process.

3Deployment and Structural Transformation

Opening the unit extends the burner away from the housing while three serrated pot supports spread outward to create a stable cooking surface. When folded, these supports nest neatly alongside the burner. This transformation focuses on rearranging essential stove components rather than simply adding a handle to a conventional, boxy tabletop cooking appliance.

4Aesthetic and Functional Choices

The exterior features a sandy beige finish with black accents and a fabric loop for handling. Concentric slots and small perforations provide ventilation while maintaining a restrained, minimalist look. This design avoids the rugged, armor-like aesthetic common in camping gear, opting instead for a clean, capsule-like profile that prioritizes portability and visual simplicity.

5Industry Precedents and Comparisons

The concept shares functional DNA with the Snow Peak Home & Camp Burner, which launched in 2019 and also folds into a protective enclosure. While the Snow Peak model is an established retail product, Easy Cooking explores a flatter, more compact outline, highlighting how folding mechanisms remain a key area of design innovation.

6Practical Engineering Challenges

As a concept, the stove lacks specified dimensions, weight figures, or material grades. Questions remain regarding the durability of the joints when exposed to grit and food residue. Furthermore, the narrow structure of the folding supports raises concerns about stability when stirring or lifting heavy pots during actual cooking sessions in the field.

7Heat Management and Safety

Integrating fuel canisters within the stove housing introduces significant thermal risks. Similar to warnings issued for the Snow Peak burner, there is a danger that cookware could radiate excessive heat toward the fuel canister. Ensuring the canister remains cool while the burner is active requires careful material selection and strategic heat shielding.

8Future of Portable Cooking

While the Easy Cooking stove offers an appealing solution for space-saving, it remains a conceptual proposal rather than a commercial product. Its success depends on balancing the folding mechanism's convenience with the rigorous safety standards required for outdoor cooking. Future iterations must address heat dissipation and structural integrity to become truly viable.
