# Trump Nominates UFC CEO Dana White for White House Press Secretary Role President Trump publicly invites longtime fight promoter Dana White to lead White House communications. - **Source:** [DW – Top Stories](https://www.dw.com/en) - **Published:** 2026-11-07 - **Topic:** [politics](https://brifing.si/c/politics) - **Original article:** - **On Brifing:** https://brifing.si/s/d05efcb2-aa36-4d50-ba28-4218cf71f484 ## Public Offer Extended President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that he has formally offered the White House press secretary position to Dana White. Trump utilized his Truth Social account to make the request, labeling the UFC executive as a warrior. He explicitly urged the longtime fight promoter to accept the high-profile government role. ## UFC Leadership Background Dana White has maintained a prominent role in combat sports for over two decades. He has served as the president of the Ultimate Fighting Championship since 2001 and assumed the position of CEO in 2023. His transition from sports promotion to federal administration would mark a significant shift in his professional career. ## Vacancy at the Podium The White House currently lacks a permanent press secretary following a recent departure. Katie Zacharia vacated the high-profile post on October 16. Her exit occurred after a brief and difficult tenure, as she left the position less than one week after her initial appointment following a shaky debut press briefing session. ## Specific Staffing Requests In his public appeal, President Trump encouraged White to bring his own team of assistants to the White House. Trump noted that these staff members might include individuals who are not originally from the United States. This request suggests a desire to integrate White's existing operational structure into the administration. ## Communication Strategy Shift The selection of a sports executive for a press secretary role signals a potential departure from traditional political communication styles. By targeting a figure known for managing high-intensity combat events, the administration may be seeking a more aggressive or unconventional approach to handling daily interactions with the national press corps. ## Historical Context of Role The press secretary position serves as the primary spokesperson for the executive branch, managing the flow of information to the media. Historically, this role requires balancing administration policy with public transparency. The rapid turnover seen with the previous appointee highlights the intense scrutiny and pressure inherent in this specific office. ## Operational Integration Challenges Transitioning from the private sector to government service involves navigating complex bureaucratic protocols and legal requirements. If White accepts, he must adapt his management style from the fast-paced, commercial environment of mixed martial arts to the rigid, protocol-heavy atmosphere of the White House press room and federal government operations. ## Future Outlook Uncertain As of now, Dana White has not publicly confirmed whether he will accept the offer. The administration remains without a spokesperson, leaving a critical gap in its public relations infrastructure. Observers are waiting for further updates to see if this unconventional nomination will proceed to a formal confirmation or appointment. ## Sources covering this story - [All News — Trump Offers White House Press Secretary Role to Dana White](https://www.investing.com/news/economy-news/trump-offers-white-house-press-secretary-job-to-ufcs-dana-white-5010006) -
