This diversity brings together distinct technological competencies. However, understanding how this diversity contributes to the economic value of innovation has become a crucial topic. ## Inventor Collaboration Networks This study investigates how ethnic integration within inventor collaboration networks and its interaction with ethnic diversity influence the economic value of innovation. A network-based integration index was created using patent and inventor data from 890 U.S. companies. ## The Impact of Ethnic Integration The research revealed that ethnic integration significantly enhances patent value. This effect is particularly pronounced in firms that are ethnically diverse and engaged in technologically complex innovation. ## Diversity and Integration The study shows that diversity alone is not sufficient. Integration mechanisms play a critical role in unlocking the full potential of diverse organizations. This can be achieved through practices such as inclusive leadership and cross-ethnic mentorship. ## Implications for Managers The key takeaway for leaders is clear: investing in diverse talent is not enough. Organizations must build collaborative cultures and structures that enable integration. This provides a strategic advantage, especially in high-tech and R&D-intensive industries. ## The Strategic Importance of Integration Ethnic integration is not just an option but a strategic lever for innovation performance. The integration of diverse knowledge is vital for success in complex technologies. ## Sources covering this story - https://sms.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/smj.70108?af=R — --- _Summary written by Brifing from the original reporting.
