1The quiet communication revolution

Augmental's Vox detects whispers by resting on the user's chest, unlike conventional microphones. Inspired by stethoscopes, this technology captures body vibrations, specifically designed for those with speech impairments, voice disorders, or privacy concerns. It represents a significant leap in accessible communication tools.

2Complete control with MouthPad

Vox integrates with Augmental's MouthPad, creating a hands-free computing system where MouthPad serves as the 'mouse' and Vox as the 'keyboard.' This combination enables full computer control through tongue gestures and silent speech, currently used daily by diverse users from students to wheelchair users.

3Thoughtful design, broad applications

Vox's transparent pendant design balances aesthetics and functionality with three customizable buttons. While the raw audio resembles underwater speech, advanced signal processing converts it to clear text. The body-facing microphone eliminates ambient noise interference, ensuring private capture of only the wearer's speech.

4Inclusive technology vision

Founder Tomás Vega, who stutters himself, developed Vox based on personal experience, noting that whispering reduces stuttering. Initially designed for special needs, Vox evolved into a universal product. Augmental's long-term vision includes 'skinware' - technology integrated into teeth or skin patches for seamless interaction.

5Beta release and pricing

Currently in beta, Vox is available for $200 to limited users, allowing feedback before mass production. The device offers 8-hour battery life with 2 hours of continuous transcription. MouthPad's $1400 price reflects its custom dental fitting process requiring 3D scans at partner clinics.

6A new interaction paradigm

Augmental's products redefine body-technology relationships. The Vox-MouthPad duo adapts traditional keyboard-mouse logic into wearable form, creating new interaction possibilities for both disabled and mainstream users. This approach reminds us that technology should adapt to humans, not vice versa.
