Motorola details Android 17 update features coming to its devices
Stackable widgets, live notifications and enhanced security features will roll out to over 50 Motorola phones.
1Motorola's Android 17 update details
Motorola has officially announced the new features coming with the Android 17 update. The update includes standout features like stackable widgets, themed icons, and live updates. Over 50 Motorola devices will receive this update. According to information published on Motorola India's support page, the update will bring significant changes to the home screen and notification systems.
2Home screen revolution: Stackable widgets
The most notable feature of Android 17 is stackable widgets, allowing users to combine multiple widgets into a single block. This means widgets like weather, calendar, and music player will take up less space on the home screen. Users can swipe through widget stacks to switch between different widgets. Themed icons and the option to hide quick settings labels further enhance home screen customization.
3Smart notification organization
Motorola introduces innovations like live updates and notification summaries with Android 17. Live updates enable apps to show real-time data in a single notification. Notification summaries condense lengthy messaging threads into one sentence. Machine learning models filter low-priority notifications, grouping them into a silent folder. These features will improve user experience in apps like WhatsApp and Messages.
4Enhanced HDR and brightness control
The Android 17 update offers advanced brightness control for HDR content. The screen automatically reaches maximum brightness when viewing Ultra HDR photos and HDR videos. Users can now adjust this brightness to their preference or turn it off completely. This feature significantly improves image quality for HDR content in Google Photos, YouTube, and Instagram.
5New sharing features
Motorola adds two new sharing methods in Connected Devices settings. With 'Tap to Share', users can share photos or files by bringing phones together. 'Quick Drop' makes it easier to send files to multiple people simultaneously. These features will speed up team collaborations and daily sharing activities.
6Security and performance enhancements
The Android 17 update includes advanced security measures against malware and data breaches. The system achieves better compatibility with new apps while performance optimizations deliver a smoother experience. Battery life improvements and stability updates help users get more efficiency from their devices.
7Cross-platform sharing improvements
Motorola's Android 17 update enhances the cross-platform Quick Share feature. According to FoneArena's report, while the update doesn't bring AirDrop compatibility, it improves the sharing experience. Features like Audio Sharing and a refreshed Quick Settings panel will also be available to users. New Razr and Edge series models are among the devices that will benefit from this update.
8A significant step in Motorola's Android strategy
Motorola's Android 17 update demonstrates the company's focus on user experience. Covering over 50 devices, this update shows Motorola's commitment to its broad product range users. With AI-powered features and customization options, Motorola aims to stand out in the competitive Android ecosystem. This update will be an important milestone in meeting smartphone users' expectations.
