Major Banks Lead in Bitcoin Adoption Index
Fidelity, BNY, and Goldman Sachs top the list in Bitcoin services.
1What is the Bitcoin Adoption Index?
The Bitcoin Adoption Index, launched by Strategy, evaluates global banks' Bitcoin-related services. The index examines 25 major institutions across trading, custody, digital asset products, financing, and corporate participation.
2Fidelity Takes the Lead
Fidelity leads the Bitcoin Adoption Index with 71%. The company offers direct crypto trading through Fidelity Crypto, institutional custody through Fidelity Digital Assets, and the Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund, a spot Bitcoin ETF.
3BNY and Goldman Sachs Follow
BNY ranks second with 46%, while Goldman Sachs is third with 45%. BNY focuses on digital asset infrastructure, while Goldman Sachs expands institutional investment products like Bitcoin ETFs.
4JPMorgan, Morgan Stanley, and Citigroup
JPMorgan, Morgan Stanley, and Citigroup each scored 43%. JPMorgan focuses on institutional payments, Morgan Stanley offers regulated investment products, and Citigroup develops digital asset infrastructure.
5Performance of Other Banks
Wells Fargo leads other banks with 38%, followed by Banco Santander and Société Générale at 35%. Charles Schwab and TD Bank scored 32%, while BNP Paribas, HSBC, Crédit Agricole, and UBS each received 30%.
6Limitations of the Index
The index indicates whether services are publicly visible but does not measure customer numbers, transaction volumes, or profitability. A high adoption score does not necessarily show how widely products are available or how extensively they are used.
