MRD Residence: A Harmonious Blend with Nature
Jacobsen Arquitetura integrates architecture with tropical forest.
1Integration with Nature
The MRD Residence, designed by Jacobsen Arquitetura, is located next to a dense tropical forest on the outskirts of São Paulo. The project aimed to seamlessly blend the architecture with its natural surroundings, creating a harmonious relationship between the built environment and the lush landscape.
2Adapting to Terrain
The residence was built on an uneven terrain, which posed unique challenges for the architects. Jacobsen Arquitetura addressed this by designing solutions that focused on creating paths and viewpoints that enhance the connection between the interior spaces and the surrounding nature.
3Architectural Team
The project was led by Paulo Jacobsen and Bernardo Jacobsen, with contributions from Edgar Murata, Marcelo Vessoni, and Fernanda Maeda. The team also included Victor Gonçalves, Marina Budib, and Thauan, among others, who worked collaboratively to bring the vision to life.
4Material Selection
The MRD Residence incorporates materials such as wood, steel, and concrete, chosen for their durability and aesthetic appeal. These materials not only provide structural integrity but also complement the natural environment, enhancing the overall design.
5Landscape Design
Rodrigo Oliveira was responsible for the landscape design, ensuring that the outdoor spaces were thoughtfully integrated with the architecture. The landscaping emphasizes the natural beauty of the site, creating a serene and inviting atmosphere.
6Lighting Strategy
Lightworks designed the lighting for the MRD Residence, focusing on enhancing the architectural features and creating a warm ambiance. The lighting design plays a crucial role in highlighting the interplay between the structure and its natural surroundings.
7Structural Engineering
The structural engineering was handled by Ita e Leão, ensuring that the residence was built to withstand the challenges posed by the uneven terrain. Their expertise contributed to the stability and longevity of the project.
8Architectural Significance
The MRD Residence exemplifies Jacobsen Arquitetura's commitment to creating architecture that respects and enhances its natural environment. The project serves as a model for sustainable design, demonstrating how thoughtful planning and material selection can result in a harmonious living space.
