# Alienware's New Budget Gaming Laptop Tested: 3 Smarter Alternatives How does the Alienware 15's performance and compromises position it in the budget gaming laptop market? - **Source:** [Latest news](https://brifing.si/source/77d15218-219f-472d-bf40-31b5646d2942) - **Published:** 2026-07-13 - **Topic:** [Business](https://brifing.si/c/business) - **Original article:** - **On Brifing:** https://brifing.si/s/d87e8b71-ff65-4919-b58e-b173469f5752 ## Alienware's Budget-Friendly Move The Alienware 15 stands out with a starting price of $1,300, diverging from the brand's traditional premium segment. Offering RTX 4050-5060 GPU and Intel Core 7 processor options, it meets entry-level gaming expectations but comes with notable compromises. ## Hardware and Performance Analysis The 10-core Intel Core 7 processor and limited 85W TDP GPU options lag behind competitors like the Lenovo LOQ 15. With only one M.2 slot and Wi-Fi 6 support, its upgrade potential is constrained for long-term use. ## Design and User Experience Despite its plastic chassis, the Alienware 15 impresses with a premium feel and 1.3mm key travel keyboard. However, its 300-nit brightness and 62.5% sRGB coverage display falls short for color-sensitive tasks. ## Battery Life and Connectivity Issues The 70Wh battery delivers 5.5 hours of office use but less than 2 hours in gaming mode. Thunderbolt 3 firmware issues and the requirement for a 180W adapter negatively impact portability. ## Gaming Performance The Alienware 15 runs newer titles like Battlefield 6 smoothly on low settings and excels with older games like No Man's Sky. However, the dull display and low-quality speakers detract from the overall experience. ## Competitive Market Analysis Priced at $1,649 for the top model, it overlaps with Alienware's Aurora series and struggles against more affordable rivals like the Lenovo LOQ 15. Alternatives offering 115W GPUs and better displays present more attractive options for consumers. ## Who Is It For? Suitable for those loyal to the Alienware brand seeking a basic gaming laptop. However, those prioritizing price-performance ratio should consider competing models. It positions itself as a mid-range option in the budget gaming laptop market. ## Sources covering this story - https://www.zdnet.com/article/alienware-15-review/ — --- _Summary written by Brifing from the original reporting.
