1Incremental Hardware Refresh Arrives

XREAL released the 1 Pro+ augmented reality glasses at a standard retail price of $599. Rather than overhauling the underlying architecture, the device serves as an iterative refinement of the previous model, prioritizing visual clarity, automated image processing, and everyday physical ergonomics over architectural changes.

2Major Boost in Screen Luminance

Peak perceived display luminance jumps significantly to 1,200 nits, up from 700 nits on the standard predecessor. This targeted increase addresses high-ambient environments like aircraft cabins, offices, and window-adjacent desks, making the virtual display far easier to read without requiring external shade attachments.

3AI HDR Tuning and Modes

A dedicated AI HDR engine dynamically adjusts highlights, shadows, skin tones, and onscreen text rendering in real time. The firmware introduces Reading, Movie, and Standard preset modes, removing the need for manual display recalibration whenever users switch between reading text documents and streaming video.

4Doubled Refresh for 3D Conversion

Native REAL 3D conversion now operates at 60Hz, doubling the previous 30Hz refresh rate. Running entirely on the integrated X1 spatial chip, the depth algorithm processes standard 2D input locally without requiring supplemental host software on connected Android devices, tablets, or laptops.

5Core Platform Specs Retained

The headset keeps its established 57-degree field of view and native 3DoF tracking, anchoring the virtual desktop in physical space. Connectivity continues through DisplayPort over USB-C, ensuring direct plug-and-play mirroring for existing portable devices without needing external compute pucks or specialized adapters.

6Ergonomics and Fit Redesign

Physical modifications focus on sustained wearability during multi-hour productivity and media sessions. XREAL redesigned the nose pad for higher bridges and added three-level temple adjustment, aligning user pupils with the optical sweet spot while maintaining full field of view stability during extended head movement.

7Privacy Focused Camera Absence

Unlike smart frames from competitors like Meta, the standalone hardware omits integrated outward-facing cameras by default. This design choice avoids public recording concerns in corporate or transit settings, though XREAL sells an optional Eye camera bundle at $648 directly from its digital storefront.

8Commercial Rollout and Upgrades

Direct sales launched immediately, with Amazon distribution planned for later in October, while Best Buy schedules and European pricing remain unconfirmed. For existing One Pro owners, the upgrade value remains narrow given the shared core silicon, but new buyers gain notable display and comfort refinements.
