1Exploit Targets Vesting Infrastructure

On October 14, 2026, security firm Blockaid identified an $86,000 exploit targeting the UNCX Network. The breach occurred within the platform’s shared vesting contract, which is designed to lock assets for specific durations. Unlike traditional wallet hacks, this incident involved the manipulation of internal accounting mechanisms to withdraw tokens belonging to other users.

2The Mechanics of the Breach

The attacker exploited a flaw in the VestingManager contract's release and cancellation functions. By creating vesting positions, releasing tokens, and then canceling topped-up vests, the perpetrator triggered an accounting discrepancy. This sequence allowed a tiny residual position to claim assets that were actually backing the deposits of other unrelated project participants.

3Accounting Logic Failure Explained

Exvul researchers noted that the contract’s release function failed to properly synchronize the global total token shares with individual deposit records. When a position was canceled, the contract deducted shares based on original deposits, effectively double-counting reductions. A direct token donation further distorted the arithmetic, enabling the unauthorized withdrawal of assets.

4Scope of Affected Assets

The exploit initially impacted five cryptocurrencies, including EDGEN, ZC, PEPECOIN, LO0P, and PAAL. Subsequent updates from UNCX confirmed the breach expanded to ten tokens across four distinct blockchains: Ethereum, Base, BNB Chain, and the Robinhood Chain. Despite the $86,000 loss, approximately $3.25 million in assets remained inside the vulnerable smart contract.

5Immediate Platform Response

UNCX Network responded by restricting new vesting positions within the affected contract while conducting a transaction review. To deter further activity, the platform increased flat fees to over 1,000 ETH per lock and raised token fees to 5%. These measures were implemented to stabilize the system while the investigation into the breach continued.

6Operational Status and Recovery

UNCX clarified that its liquidity lockers and legacy vesting contracts remain unaffected by the vulnerability. The company is currently collaborating with law enforcement and the security group SEAL 911 to trace the stolen funds. As of the latest update, neither the original attacker nor copycats have returned any of the misappropriated assets.

7Communication with Affected Projects

The platform is actively contacting the projects impacted by the accounting flaw. UNCX has advised these projects to refrain from trading the affected tokens within the compromised pools. A comprehensive incident report detailing the financial findings and a proposed recovery plan is currently being prepared for the stakeholders of the affected projects.

8Risks of Shared Vesting

This incident highlights the inherent risks of shared smart contract infrastructure in decentralized finance. While shared pools offer convenience and cost efficiency, a single bookkeeping error can expose funds from multiple unrelated projects simultaneously. The event underscores the critical need for rigorous auditing of accounting logic in complex, multi-tenant token management systems.
