Seneca Niagara Resort Casino launches $47M hotel renovation project
594 rooms and suites across 22 floors to be upgraded through late 2027
1Project scope and timeline
Seneca Niagara Resort Casino is launching a $47 million comprehensive renovation from October 2026 through December 2027. The project will upgrade 594 rooms and suites spread across 22 floors, covering approximately 394,000 square feet. Instead of closing all rooms simultaneously, work will progress in three-floor increments. The hotel achieved 181,000 room occupancies in 2025 and 141,000 in 2026 before the project announcement.
2Elevating guest experience
CEO Kevin Nephew stated the renovation aims to create world-class atmosphere and enhance luxury accommodations. The AAA Four Diamond Award-winning property since 2006 serves guests from the U.S. and Canada with restaurants, spa, indoor pool, and fitness facilities. The 2,300-capacity event center is also included in the renovation plans.
3Regional economic impact
An independent October 2025 report calculated Seneca Nation's statewide economic impact at $1.95 billion. This investment supports over 8,000 jobs and $542.7 million in wages. As Western New York's 12th largest employer, the company contributes $365.9 million in tax payments.
4Investments across properties
A $2.7 million café renovation at Seneca Allegany Resort Casino was completed in early 2026. The $5.8 million overhaul of Thunder Mountain Buffet at the same property will finish in November 2026. Additional projects are planned for Seneca Niagara, Seneca Allegany, and Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino.
5Legal background and funding
Seneca Nation's gaming compact with New York state expired in late 2023, affecting casino revenues for Niagara Falls organizations despite a $7.6 million advance payment in 2024. Seneca Gaming Corporation Chairman Allie R. George emphasized creating unique experiences through property-specific projects.
6Architectural details
The 26-story Seneca Niagara hotel features 604 total rooms and suites. The 594-room renovation focuses on exceeding guest expectations with elegant design. SVP of Resort Operations Hicham Jaddoud aims to extend the excitement from arrival throughout the entire hotel experience.
7Tourism sector implications
The project seeks to boost Niagara Falls' tourism appeal. The hotel positions itself as a regional luxury destination, aiming to surpass its 2025 record of 181,000 room occupancies post-renovation. Increased guest satisfaction is expected to benefit the local economy.
8Long-term strategic importance
The $47 million investment strengthens Seneca Nation's regional economic presence beyond casino revenues. Renovations aim to capitalize on post-COVID travel demand while positioning the Seneca brand in the global luxury market through sustainable tourism models.
