1Kraken Spot Listing Announcement

Kraken has officially enabled funding and spot trading for Frankencoin, known as ZCHF, starting October 8, 2026. Users can deposit the asset directly via the platform funding interface. The exchange cautioned users to verify supported network configurations, as transfers over unsupported chains will result in permanent fund loss.

2Decentralized Swiss Franc Peg

Frankencoin operates as a decentralized, over-collateralized stablecoin pegged to the value of the Swiss franc. Unlike centralized stablecoins that rely on off-chain bank custodians, ZCHF maintains price stability purely through smart contracts. Each circulating unit is backed by verified on-chain crypto collateral valued at minimum one Swiss franc.

3On-Chain Lombard Loan Mechanism

Minting ZCHF functions mechanically as an on-chain lombard loan denominated in Swiss francs. Users open positions by locking approved crypto collateral and minting newly generated tokens against it. Borrowers select their preferred loan terms and pay an upfront fixed interest rate, burning the minted tokens once debt positions are repaid.

4Native Yield and Savings Module

ZCHF holders can earn native yield by depositing tokens into the protocol dedicated savings module. Built as a standard ERC-4626 vault, the module distributes variable returns directly to depositors. These yields are funded through borrower upfront interest fees and adjusted periodically according to decentralized governance voting parameters.

5Cross-Chain Architecture and Availability

Originally launched on Ethereum mainnet in 2023 as an ERC-20 token, Frankencoin has expanded across the broader ecosystem. Utilizing Chainlink CCIP infrastructure, the stablecoin is deployed across Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, Gnosis, Optimism, Polygon, and Sonic, allowing cross-chain liquidity and native transfers across decentralized ecosystems.

6Trading Execution and Liquidity Conditions

While standard funding and web trading are active immediately, advanced features face phased availability. Execution via the Kraken mobile app and Instant Buy will activate only after market liquidity reaches target depth. This requires sufficient resting bids and asks to avoid excessive slippage for retail order execution.

7Jurisdictional Restrictions and Compliance

Kraken noted that regional availability remains contingent upon local regulatory frameworks, meaning geographic restrictions may apply to certain user jurisdictions. The exchange maintains strict confidentiality policies regarding upcoming asset listings, refusing advance comment on future tokens until shortly before public launches appear on their formal roadmap.

8Non-USD Stablecoin Market Impact

The listing represents an important centralized venue integration for decentralized, non-USD stablecoins. By providing direct trading pairs for a Swiss franc asset, centralized exchanges broaden access for institutional and retail traders seeking currency diversification away from standard dollar dominance while maintaining fully decentralized on-chain collateralization guarantees.
