1Revolution in Production Debugging

HyperProbe allows coding assistants like Cursor and Claude to safely debug in live production environments. Eliminating traditional log scanning and redeploy cycles, the system uses virtual probes to capture variable values exactly at the moment of failure. This technology particularly solves the missing debug information problem in AI-generated code.

2End to Costly Guesswork

In existing systems, assistants had to guess root causes due to missing log data. This both increased token costs and caused time loss. HyperProbe collects data right at the point of failure, eliminating this expensive cycle. The system also removes the need to add logs and redeploy.

3Debug Without Stopping Services

HyperProbe's biggest technical achievement is debugging without stopping running services. Working as in-process hooks for Node/Python and as JVM agent for Java, the system instruments at bytecode level. This allows data collection at the exact failure point while services continue handling traffic uninterrupted.

4Security-First Design

The system sanitizes sensitive data in-process and performs no write operations. Passwords, tokens and credit card information are redacted by default. For complete control, you can self-host all components. Probes only perform reads and have minimal performance impact.

5Real-time Performance Monitoring

A separate monitor tracks resource usage in real-time. If probes exceed performance thresholds, they're automatically disabled. This guarantees production stability. Probes only consume resources when actively capturing data.

6Lessons from HyperTest

The team previously developed HyperTest, a production traffic testing tool. Their experience with runtime state extraction and instrumentation formed HyperProbe's foundation. Adoption challenges with HyperTest led them to focus directly on production issues, shaping current design decisions based on engineers' prioritization of urgent prod problems.

7Vision for Autonomous On-Call

The long-term vision is creating a fully autonomous on-call agent that receives alerts, places probes, diagnoses and fixes issues within minutes. In the current version, users describe problems to their coding assistant in natural language, which then places appropriate probes. Supported platforms include NodeJs, Java and Python.

8Paradigm Shift in Debugging

HyperProbe represents a fundamental paradigm shift in debugging processes. While traditional log and trace tools work with historical data, this system collects real-time data. It offers significant advantages especially for AI-generated code with incomplete telemetry, reducing engineers' on-call burden and increasing productivity.
