# Why Samsung's My FanCam Stands Out in AI Features The AI only edits, doesn't generate anything new - **Source:** [CNET](https://brifing.si/source/ce507de7-7f24-4ff4-ab6d-7635abcc095a) - **Published:** 2026-07-23 - **Topic:** [Data & AI](https://brifing.si/c/data-ai) - **Original article:** - **On Brifing:** https://brifing.si/s/f4d75d10-221a-4ee7-8c5f-8b7ffdad3165 ## Non-Generative AI Unlike typical AI tools, Samsung's My FanCam doesn't create new content. It automatically tracks a specified person in existing videos to create personalized clips. This approach enhances user experience while avoiding the 'fabrication' criticisms of generative AI. ## How It Works After recording normally, users click the Galaxy AI icon in Gallery app. The system recognizes people in the video and focuses on the selected subject. Outputs are available in different aspect ratios like 9:16, 1:1 or 3:4. ## Personal Cameraman Experience The feature works like a professional cameraman, keeping the chosen subject in steady frame while blurring other elements. Ideal for concerts, sports events or family gatherings where you want to highlight specific individuals. ## Hardware Limitations Currently exclusive to Galaxy Z Flip 8, Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra models. Expected to expand to future One UI 9 supported devices. The lightweight processing means it could potentially come to older models too. ## Competitive Landscape Google and Apple are expected to develop similar features. But Samsung's early move could create significant differentiation in foldable market. Particularly valuable for social media content creators. ## AI Ethics and Practical Utility My FanCam offers a fresh perspective on AI ethics debates. By enhancing existing content rather than generating new ones, it demonstrates more acceptable AI applications. Users increasingly prefer practical tools over unrealistic generations. ## Sources covering this story - https://www.cnet.com/tech/mobile/my-fancam-is-my-favorite-new-ai-feature-because-it-doesnt-generate-anything/ — --- _Summary written by Brifing from the original reporting.
