2026 HP OmniBook Ultra 14 Review: A Premium Ultrabook Experience
A laptop that stands out with its lightweight design, powerful performance, and long battery life.
1Introduction: A New Player in the Premium Ultrabook Category
The 2026 HP OmniBook Ultra 14 catches attention with its sleek design reminiscent of the MacBook Air. However, this laptop is not limited to visual similarities. Designed for professional users, the OmniBook Ultra 14 delivers uncompromising performance in terms of battery life and quality. Independent tests by ZDNET show that this device stands out in the premium ultrabook category. It offers a lightweight form factor, powerful hardware, and long battery life.
2Design and Build Quality
The HP OmniBook Ultra 14 comes in three different color options: Stone Blue, Eclipse Gray, and Silk Sand. Stone Blue models are equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon processors, while other color options feature Intel hardware. The device measures 10.7mm at its thickest point and tapers down to 7.3mm at its thinnest, making it even slimmer than the M5 MacBook Air. The recycled aluminum chassis provides a sturdy and durable feel, weighing under three pounds.
3Keyboard and Touchpad
The OmniBook Ultra 14's keyboard stands out with its latticeless design. This design ensures even key spacing and offers a comfortable typing experience. The keys are quiet and provide tactile feedback. While not on par with a mechanical keyboard, it is well-received by users. The touchpad features HP's waterfall haptic technology, supporting multi-finger gestures for enhanced cursor control.
4Display Quality and User Experience
The OmniBook Ultra 14 shines with its 3K OLED touchscreen. This panel covers the entire DCI-P3 color gamut, offering a wide range of colors. HP states that the display has a color accuracy of Delta E 1. Combined with OLED's deep contrast, these features make it one of the best touchscreens among work laptops. However, the glossy screen can be problematic, especially in outdoor use.
5Webcam and Image Quality
The device includes a 5MP webcam. While sufficient for video calls, the camera could be better given the laptop's price range. Colors in recordings appear desaturated, and image noise is noticeable. However, the resolution is quite good, and it supports Windows Hello features like automatic framing, which keeps the user centered during calls.
6Performance and Hardware
The review unit is equipped with a Snapdragon X2 Elite processor and a whopping 64GB of RAM. This hardware ensures smooth performance even under heavy workloads like multiple browser tabs, photo editing, and multitasking across applications. Performance tests show that the OmniBook Ultra 14 exceeds expectations, particularly in energy efficiency.
7Battery Life and Energy Efficiency
The HP OmniBook Ultra 14 stands out as one of the Windows laptops with the longest battery life. In tests, it can last a full day on a single charge, making it ideal for traveling professionals. The energy efficiency of the Snapdragon processor plays a significant role in this achievement. The device also remains cool even under heavy use.
8Conclusion: Who Is It For?
The 2026 HP OmniBook Ultra 14 is an excellent choice for professional users seeking a premium ultrabook. It excels with its lightweight design, powerful performance, and long battery life. However, it has some drawbacks, such as the glossy screen and average webcam quality. This laptop is particularly suitable for mobile workers and those who require high performance. Considering its price-performance balance, it is a worthy contender in the premium segment.
