Titled ‘Brain Alive’, this series draws inspiration from ‘Inception’ and Soulsborne games. Jaki is known as a Western manga creator on Manga Plus and aims to surprise fans with this new project. ## Story Summary ‘Brain Alive’ follows a father’s journey into a dream world to save his son. The character Daniel learns that his son is in a coma after a car accident. To support his son, he reads a dark fantasy novel inspired by the Soulsborne games they used to play together. However, he finds himself in a dungeon within his dreams. ## Dream Mechanics Daniel’s dreams follow the mechanics of Soulsborne games. If he dies in the dream, he doesn’t die in real life but makes progress. Bonfire checkpoints and the dream-eating yokai Baku assist him in this process. Daniel grows stronger each time as he tries to save his son. ## Challenges and Strategy Daniel’s chances to enter dreams are limited, and he must maximize progress each time. This reflects the difficulty and strategy of Soulsborne games. Daniel must find enemies’ weak points and execute perfect escapes to survive. ## Emotional Depth The story gains emotional depth with the guidance of Daniel’s deceased wife’s spirit. This offers a complex narrative reminiscent of Christopher Nolan films. Daniel must confront his loss while trying to save his son. ## Creator’s Vision Rafał Jaki pays tribute to other creators through his stories. The first chapter of ‘Brain Alive’ reflects inspiration from anime and video games. Jaki hopes fans will experience the same sense of awe he felt. ## Fan Expectations The first chapter of ‘Brain Alive’ has been met with great excitement by fans. The English translation of the series will be released later this year. Jaki’s previous work, ‘No\Name’, is also available on MANGA Plus. ## A Promising Series ‘Brain Alive’ is a promising series for both anime and video game fans. Rafał Jaki’s creative vision and the emotional depth of the story make this series worth following. The development of the series is a major point of curiosity for fans. ## Sources covering this story - https://gizmodo.com/cyberpunk-edgerunners-brain-alive-rafal-jaki-manga-inception-dark-souls-2000794863 — --- _Summary written by Brifing from the original reporting.
