6 Unique Pixel Features That Are Unthinkable on iPhone
Google Pixel's advantages that will make iPhone users jealous.
1Multitasking with Split Screen
Pixel's 90:10 split screen feature introduced in Android 16 allows users to run two apps simultaneously. Unlike iPhone, you can browse while taking notes side by side on Pixel. The 60:40 or 70:30 split options enable referencing PDFs while working. This functionality works seamlessly even on the compact Pixel 9a display, offering true productivity on the go.
2App Bubbles for Multitasking
Android 17's App Bubbles let users pin apps as floating bubbles in any screen corner. Messaging apps like WhatsApp and Telegram work perfectly in this mode. Up to 5 bubbles can be active simultaneously. Similar to Facebook's 2013 Chat Heads, this system now works universally across apps with smooth native integration, revolutionizing how we handle multiple tasks.
3Third-Party App Freedom
Pixel grants access to open-source app stores like F-Droid. Users can enjoy ad-free YouTube via NewPipe or privacy-focused weather tracking with Breezy Weather. New sideloading rules won't affect India until 2027. iPhone users remain restricted to Apple-approved apps, while Pixel empowers users to decide which apps to trust, offering true digital freedom.
4Default App Flexibility
Pixel users can set Truecaller as default dialer for superior spam call filtering - crucial in India. iPhone's filtering remains less reliable. Browser choice is another Pixel advantage: seamless switching between Vivaldi and Chrome. On iPhone, all browsers must use WebKit (outside EU), making them essentially Safari clones with different interfaces.
5Customizable Launcher Experience
Beyond Pixel Launcher, users can opt for minimalist interfaces like Niagara or ultra-simple Mako launcher. The open-source FUTO keyboard offers complete customization. Private Space creates a fully isolated sandbox with separate Google account login. When closed, these apps disappear completely from the system, offering unparalleled privacy control.
6Advanced Notification Management
Pixel's notification system outperforms iPhone significantly. Per-app channel selection ensures only crucial alerts come through - like transaction notifications from finance apps while blocking marketing spam. The complete notification history accessible via Settings provides valuable tracking, though some might find this feature slightly intrusive.
7Android's Historical Edge
Android has led notification management for a decade, and Pixel leverages this advantage perfectly. Users enjoy iPhone-lacking capabilities in viewing, managing and automating notifications. These granular controls prove especially valuable for maintaining work-life balance, offering customization that Apple's rigid system can't match.
8User Experience Revolution
While individually small, Pixel's features combine to create a substantial user experience difference. Android's open nature combined with Google's hardware-software optimization offers freedom iPhone's walled garden can't match. For power users especially, Pixel delivers unmatched personalization and productivity potential that redefines smartphone utility.
