Users noticed their phones consuming charge much faster than before. This issue greatly impacted daily usage, prompting users to try various methods to resolve it. ## Searching for Solutions at the App Level Users first checked apps to reduce battery consumption. They restricted background data for apps like Instagram, YouTube, and other social media platforms. However, these methods only resulted in minor improvements in battery life. ## System-Level Issue It was discovered that the battery consumption issue was not at the app level but at the system level. The Doze battery-saving feature was malfunctioning, causing the phone to remain active in the background constantly. This severely affected battery life. ## Issue Emerged with Update The battery consumption issue started with the March 2026 update. This update nearly halved the idle battery endurance of phones. Google has not officially confirmed the source of the issue, but symptoms point to a malfunctioning Doze feature. ## Similar Issues in the Past The Doze feature has faced similar issues before. A Doze bug was detected during the Android 16 beta version. System-level issues like these create problems that users cannot easily notice and are difficult to resolve. ## Users Awaiting a Solution Google has marked the issue as Severity One on the Issue Tracker but has yet to provide a fix. Users believe the focus on Android 17 may delay the resolution of this bug. In the meantime, users need to remain patient. ## Sources covering this story - https://www.androidpolice.com/blamed-apps-for-pixels-battery-drain-until-found-update-that-broke-it/ — --- _Summary written by Brifing from the original reporting.
