OpenAI Unveils Presence, a Platform for Enterprise Voice and Chat Agents
Companies can now easily manage AI agents for customer and internal workflows.
1OpenAI's New Product: Presence
OpenAI has announced Presence, a new enterprise product designed to simplify the deployment and management of AI agents for customer-facing and internal business workflows. Companies can use these agents within defined policies and permissions.
2Limited Availability Launch
Presence is currently available through a limited general availability program. OpenAI's Forward Deployed Engineers (FDE) and select global systems integrators are managing deployments. Self-service access is not available at this time.
3Third-Party Model Support
OpenAI clarified that Presence uses its own models for the core agent but allows customers to integrate third-party models and services via APIs. This flexibility is particularly relevant for popular open-weight models like GLM-5.2 and Kimi K3 in China.
4Reliability in Production
Presence aims to help companies run AI agents reliably in production environments. The platform provides tools to adapt to policy changes, customer needs, and shifting operational conditions, ensuring consistent performance.
5Comprehensive Management and Evaluation
Presence combines company knowledge, standard operating procedures, approved actions, simulations, and evaluation tools. Customers can define custom controls for each deployment and continuously monitor agent performance.
6Real-Time Voice and Chat Support
OpenAI announced that Presence is now ready for real-time voice and chat experiences. The company plans to support additional channels like email in the future, but these features are not available at launch.
7Collaborations with BBVA and SoftBank
BBVA is testing voice support for routine banking needs in Mexico, while SoftBank is experimenting with natural Japanese-language customer conversations. These partnerships highlight Presence's potential in the financial sector.
8The Future of AI Agents
Presence enables reliable and scalable use of AI agents in enterprise environments. OpenAI's move aims to remove barriers to AI integration in business processes, paving the way for broader adoption.
